Delegation from TWHBEA

Brad Woodruff from the Tennessee Walking Horse Breeders’ and Exhibitors’ Association (TWHBEA) recently brought his honored guests and delegates from Mexico to Clearview. We all enjoyed a wonderful home-cooked lunch and then braved the weather and took a trail ride around the farm.

We enjoyed having the TWHBEA at Clearview!

Duchess and Driving Training

Winter is a great time to focus on training, and we’ve been working with our Gypsy Vanner named Duchess on driving training. Based on the photo, she’s doing great!

We can't wait to see how Duchess progresses in her training!

Equines and Services for Sale

Corona Extra Chex Stud Service – $850

We love bringing back this festive picture of Corona during this time of year!

We love bringing back this festive picture of Corona during this time of year!

Corona Extra Chex, son of Nu Chex to Cash, is standing at stud at Clearview, and you could not ask for a more personable stallion to sire your next foal. He’s extremely “honest,” in that you never have to worry about guessing his moods before a show or change classes at the last minute. And when he’s not cleaning house in the show ring or training, he has a gelding as a pasture buddy, enjoys his leisure time, and gets along great with other horses on trail rides. In fact, he’s so laid back that people who have never met him are often shocked to learn that he’s a stallion!

Diego, 5 year old gaited flashy TWH gelding – $2500 OBO

Diego is a flashy, sure-footed trail horse perfect for an advanced beginner!

Diego is a flashy, sure-footed trail horse perfect for an advanced beginner!

Diego is a 14.2 hand chestnut and white spotted TWH gelding, solid broke and fun trail horse for the advanced beginner rider! We have taken him trail riding numerous amounts of times. He will lead or follow and also rides out on his own just fine. His gait is as smooth as silk and will go all day long, anywhere you point he will go. He is sure-footed and will go through water, over logs, and over bridges. He is up to date on all shots, vaccinations, and Coggins and good for the farrier. The only reason for sale is we are reducing stock, so Diego is ready and eagerly looking for his next trail buddy! He does well at all the local fun shows due to his eye catching appearance and solid gait. Click this link for more photos and a video! http://www.equinenow.com/horse-ad-1059309

Western Dressage of Tennessee

Contact: Marie

Phone: 931-619-0773

Western Dressage of Tennessee is holding a play day January 21 and 22 2017 at Clearview so we can find officers to help establish our new WDAA Affiliate. If you don’t have a horse, it doesn’t matter! We need members, so come with or without a horse for an hour, a day, or 2 days.

We want to establish our mission statement, part of which is the fact that we will be taking advantage of Western Dressage classes at horse shows offered for example, by the CTDA. We want to encourage you to get your feet wet, for those of you out there sitting on the fence! Western Dressage is open to any breed of horse, so you don’t have to own it. It doesn’t even matter if it’s not registered . The organization is going to be spearheaded by Katharina Nowotny-Boles, a qualified dressage judge in classic and western dressage, who has attended all the clinics and seminars hosted by the WDAA, so she is amply qualified to guide us and be our President. Our own Don M Charest is a WDAA certified trainer. With such great people as part of the team, join us now, and help make next year’s efforts fun and friendly. We want to support each other’s endeavors as a group and improve our horsemanship so we can enjoy the ride together. See you there!

I’m so honored that John Lyons is finally coming here! Whilst I was still in England, after numerous jumping accidents, it was the John Lyons method I turned to in my attempt to master a different approach to horsemanship. I learned and studied his books and DVD s and worked at retraining myself and my hard headed English Cob! I was the laughing stock of the English barn, with my old Western saddle and the audio tape stuck in my ear! But I persevered, and that young cob and I had a completely different relationship and I never fell off him again!

Make sure to book now! You won’t want to miss this extraordinary opportunity to learn from learn from America’s most trusted horseman!

That’s all for 2016! Happy New Year, and we’ll see you in 2017!

Comment Questions: What was your favorite moment in 2016? We would love to see your photos and hear your stories! Make sure to follow us on Facebook to be the first to know when we announce new shows and clinics! Happy New Year!

December Newsletter

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from your friends at Clearview Horse Farm! This month has given us plenty of reasons to celebrate. Not only did we enjoy Christmas festivities, but we also celebrated another marriage in the Clearview family! Keep on reading for all of the festive details!

Special Feature: Merry Christmas and Congratulations to the Newlyweds!

Marie’s niece Hannah recently moved all the way from The United Kingdom to Shelbyville to be with her fiancé Josh, and earlier this month, they tied the knot in a small, intimate ceremony on the farm. And since it’s Clearview we’re talking about, it was only fitting that they include horses in the ceremony. So they got married on horseback! Josh rode Corona, and Hannah rode Bozo.

Getting married on horseback only seems appropriate here!

They’re planning the more traditional big wedding in May when the family from England can attend, but we love that they had such a unique and beautiful ceremony to start their lives together.

Congratulations to the newlyweds!

Hannah quickly fell in love with Bozo shortly after moving here, so she and Josh added him to the family just in time for Christmas!

What a great family photo!

Meanwhile, the holidays were the perfect excuse to have Kathy Ziegler come out to the farm again to work her photography magic for our Christmas cards. Corona went from Best Horse at a wedding to Design Consultant with tree trimming.

Christmas Festivities in Shelbyville and Nashville

With horse shows over for the season and less activity on the farm, December is a great time of year to get away for a day and enjoy Christmas festivities in the city.

For our local friends, have you ever gone to Shelbyville’s annual Christmas Wine Walk? The shops on the square stay open until 8 PM and offer free wine and snacks for shoppers. Marie and Hannah went and had a great time! According to Marie, “Wine and shopping are a lethal combo! I bought stuff I didn’t know I needed, invented old aunties and cousins that I have never met and probably don’t exist just so I could buy them presents. Marvelous!”

Shelbyville's wine walk is always a big hit!

For folks looking for a bigger city event, the Gaylord Opryland Hotel is one of Nashville’s most festive destinations during Christmas. The entire resort gets decked out with Christmas lights, trees, outdoor activities such as ice sliding, and hosts ice performances. Marie, Hannah, and Josh took a day trip to enjoy the sights and sent back plenty of photos!

Marie also had an adventure trying to go down the ice slide. Apparently long skirts and ice slides don’t mix too well.

The ice shows are always popular with visitors.

Get ready for Horse Soccer!

You read that right. We’re starting a horse soccer league! Since the next few months will have less activity on the farm, we wanted a fun activity to do with the horses for a change of pace. America’s Equine Soccer League is dedicated to promoting the sport across the country and helps farms start up new chapters for local equine enthusiasts.

We recently ordered a soccer ball and have been slowly introducing some of our horses to it. So far Corona and Bozo are doing well with approaching and moving the ball!

Corona and Bozo are soccer champs in the making!

Check this link for the AESL official website and to learn more about the rules and how to play. This sport is a great opportunity to work on natural horsemanship while having fun, so let us know if you want to join us!

 Arena Reports

Nothing to report this month! The holidays are a slow season for horse shows, and after such a successful show circuit, our horses and mules have earned some rest and relaxation! We plan to ride when weather permits, enjoy bonding with our equines with some horse soccer, and start making plans for the 2016 show circuit! Watch this space for more information!

Reno is a proven ranch and stock horse, with numerous titles under his belt, and is for sale!

Proven Show Horse, Reno (“This Will Be The Day”) is a talented all around competitor. Originally trained and ridden by Ted and Tucker Robinson, Marie bought him from them as a 3 yr old at the snaffle bit Futurity in Reno in 2009. For the savvy non pro/amateur Reno can be a 70 scoring reiner and has excellent maneuvers in ranch horse pleasure. At the Novice World Championship show in Lexington, Virginia, this year, Reno placed 5th with a score of 216 out of 29 entries. He has his NRHA License, American Ranch Horse License, and American Stock Horse License. He has won the All Around Stock Horse High Point in 2011 and 2012 doing the cow classes, trail, reining, and pleasure. He was successfully shown at the American Ranch Horse World show in 2013, placing in the top 5, and reserve champion in the reining.

He is friendly, easy to catch and load, and a real professional. He is good on cows and cuts one fine, and has been down the fence numerous times. He is particularly good in the AQHA ranch riding as he is so responsive to subtle cues. He is already trained, solid, and broke, so he just needs to be kept fit to go to shows. For NRHA, he would be ideal for a rookie or novice and picks up on new things quickly. Overall, Reno is a true gentleman and would make someone an excellent show horse.

Pete Snow (“Alias Royal Snow”), 8 Year Old Registered Appaloosa Gelding – $7000

Pete is versatile, gentle, and as steady as they come for trails and ranch pleasure.

Pete is versatile, gentle, and as steady as they come for trails and ranch pleasure.

We’ve written a lot about Hollywood this month, and we’re pleased to announce that his brother, Alias Royal Snow, is for sale! Pete is a delight to ride and as honest as they come. A true gentleman, he is laidback, gentle, and extremely friendly. He would not be suitable for games, barrels, or poles as he is not fast by nature. But for anyone looking for a steady, mature mount, he is well-trained and will take excellent care of his rider on the trails and in trail competitions.

Check out the video link below to see how steady Pete is on Clearview’s trail course and in the show ring.

Tinker Belle – $2500 OBO

Tinker Belle wants to be someone's perfect pony!

Tinker Belle wants to be someone’s perfect pony!

Tinker Belle is an 8 year old POA-registered pony, 55 inches, ideal for a child or small adult. She’s got a gentle, patient temperament and is great for games, poles, barrel racing, and trail riding. She shows great potential in pole bending with natural lead changes. Tinker Belle has been ridden by a retired judge on the trails these past 4 years.

Consequently she is happy and laid back. With just a bit of games training, she could make some kid a great pony for games or a wonderful trail horse for a small adult. She is steady, easy, broke, sound, and needs a good home. Check out the video below to see her natural talent for pole bending!
