The Clearview Chronicle: February 2018
Our website is coming along nicely! If you haven’t visited us yet, head down to http://clearviewhorsefarm.com/. We’re slowing adding more photos of our horses, thanks to the talents of Kathy Ziegler, so you may see some familiar faces now! We’ve also renamed our monthly newsletter “The Clearview Chronicle,” so click the link at the top of the website to check out all of our archived newsletters and special events!
Special Feature: Michael Gascon is coming to Clearview!
We’re thrilled to welcome Michael Gascon when he comes to Clearview for his clinic in June, even more so after seeing him in action recently in Murfreesboro. Check the Arena Report for more details!
If you’ve never heard of Michael Gascon, here’s why he’s such a big deal and a must-attend clinician:
1) He specializes in gaited horses.
Michael Gascon breeds and trains Paso Finos on his home ranch in Mississippi, and this breed has a rich history dating back 500 years to the import of Andalusians and other Spanish horse breeds to North America. Paso Finos are renowned for their stamina, beauty, and amazingly smooth yet rhythmic gait. It’s no wonder people call him “The Gaited Horse Specialist!”
2) But his clinics are open to any breed.
Don’t ride a gaited horse? No problem! Michael tailors his training techniques and natural horsemanship to suit the individual personality of each horse, so all breeds are welcome at his clinics. Bring your quarter horses, stock horses, Tennessee walkers, and anything in between!
3) His instructors are all championship riders.
Michael’s home ranch and location of his Gascon Horsemanship Academy brings together multiple professional instructors to create one of the finest equine science courses in the world. Each instructor is a Grand National Champion or World Champion in his or her respective discipline and can show clinicians how to build a successful equine career.
4) He offers full immersion clinics.
If you love Michael’s clinic at Clearview, consider heading to his home ranch for a longer, full immersion experience with his Gascon Horsemanship Academy. In addition to horsemanship, Michael and his instructors also go in-depth on feeding regimens, vet care and supplements, equine marketing, traveling with horses, and more!
5) He has a great sense of humor!
If you want a good laugh, head over to Michael Gascon’s YouTube channel and check out some of his videos. We especially like this one. And you know those T-Rex costumes that have gone viral on Facebook? Well, he wore one while riding one of his Paso Finos, and the photos are priceless!
If you want to attend Michael Gascon’s horsemanship clinic, contact us ASAP to reserve your spot and any lodging needs for you and your horse. His clinics are typically limited to 10 horse/rider teams and up to 60 auditors to give you as much one-on-one time as possible!
Word in the Herd
Not much to report this month! February has alternated between nonstop rain, beautiful sunshine, and random cold snaps, so we’re probably spent more time watching the weather than taking pictures! However, spring is on the horizon, so expect this space to feature more farm visitors and equines in the coming months!
For now, please enjoy this adorable photo of Marie and Radison.
We took full advantage of the Southern Equine Expo in Murfreesboro recently and got a sneak preview of Michael Gascon’s teaching style at his clinic.
Needless to say, his clinic was a packed house with plenty of auditors! We can’t wait for June when he’ll be at Clearview!
Our mule Gilbert also got his time in the spotlight at Steve Edwards’ mule saddle fitting demonstration. A quality, well-fitting saddle can sometimes mean the difference between a comfortable ride and a painful one, both for you and your horse or mule!
Equines and Services for Sale
Corona Extra Chex Stud Service – $850
Now we may have made a big deal about Radison recently, but we can’t forget about Corona! Corona Extra Chex, son of Nu Chex to Cash, is standing at stud at Clearview, and you could not ask for a more personable stallion to sire your next foal. He’s extremely “honest,” in that you never have to worry about guessing his moods before a show or change classes at the last minute. And when he’s not cleaning house in the show ring or training, he has a gelding as a pasture buddy, enjoys his leisure time, and gets along great with other horses on trail rides. In fact, he’s so laid back that people who have never met him are often shocked to learn that he’s a stallion!
And if you needed any proof that he sires amazing foals, here’s a gorgeous buckskin colt born in April that he sired to a mare owned by friends in Texas.
Diego, 5 year old gaited flashy TWH gelding – $2500 OBO
Diego is a 14.2 hand chestnut and white spotted TWH gelding, solid broke and fun trail horse for the advanced beginner rider! We have taken him trail riding numerous amounts of times. He will lead or follow and also rides out on his own just fine. His gait is as smooth as silk and will go all day long, anywhere you point he will go. He is sure-footed and will go through water, over logs, and over bridges. He is up to date on all shots, vaccinations, and Coggins and good for the farrier. The only reason for sale is we are reducing stock, so Diego is ready and eagerly looking for his next trail buddy! He does well at all the local fun shows due to his eye catching appearance and solid gait. Click this link for more photos and a video! http://www.equinenow.com/horse-ad-1059309
